OCP base spec: Interface Specification Between Hyperscalers and Utility Grid for Disturbance Performance

Google, Meta, Microsoft and NVIDIA have published an OCP base specification that states, inside OCP, what a data center commits to at the point of interconnection during a grid disturbance.

On 17 September 2026 the OCP Data Center Facility project published an OCP base specification, contributed by Google, Meta, Microsoft and NVIDIA: Interface Specification Between Hyperscalers and Utility Grid for Disturbance Performance, V1.0.0.

Its Table 1 defines the ride-through and recovery envelope at the point of interconnection, closely aligned with ERCOT NOGRR 282. The specification lists PSU firmware changes, medium-voltage UPS and grid-side equipment as mitigation paths.

For ORv3 / ORW halls the question it leaves open is how a rack power shelf — PSU plus BBU, with no front-end UPS — keeps that commitment. That is the gap POM is written to close.
